The Challenge Following a significant organizational restructuring, Entergy initiated a multi-year plan to transform its headquarters building. The company’s objectives were multifaceted: to attract top talent, modernize workspaces, integrate collaborative and technology-enabled environments, increase flexibility and efficiency across floors, and reduce the total footprint to lower future lease costs. This was more than a renovation—it was a strategic real estate overhaul designed to support long-term operational goals and a shifting workforce model.
Our Role Sequence Studio provided internal leadership to guide the transformation from within. As project lead, we were responsible for:
Evaluating space and occupancy data to inform strategy
Developing a restacking and phased renovation plan
Conducting leadership interviews and employee focus groups
Serving as the primary liaison between Entergy and the architecture, construction, and vendor teams
Supporting the adoption of a CAFM system to track occupancy and usage
Providing consulting guidance on change management and future workplace standards
Our approach emphasized collaboration with internal stakeholders, ensuring each voice, from executives to end users, informed the direction of the headquarters design. This engagement was key in creating a new workplace strategy that could scale to other future Entergy properties.
The Outcome The transformation culminated in:
A robust workplace strategy that aligned with Entergy’s operational vision
The implementation of updated workplace standards and design guidelines
A complete shift in how Entergy tracks and manages occupancy company-wide
Each floor delivered improvements in space efficiency, variety in meeting and collaboration zones, technology integration, lighting, acoustics, and furniture flexibility. Demountable wall systems replaced traditional construction, allowing for rapid reconfiguration in response to new work patterns, including hybrid work post-2021. The successful strategy positioned Entergy to reduce its real estate footprint ahead of the 2023 lease renewal and allowed them to easily pivot from a traditional to hybrid work style.
Employee feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with survey results after each floor informing future renovations. The inclusive process not only created a more effective work environment but also empowered staff by giving them ownership of the transformation.
